About Us

Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wheaton, Illinois not only serves the Wheaton community, but also the surrounding areas of Naperville, West Chicago, Glen Ellyn, Lisle, Warrenville, Winfield, Downers Grove, Carol Stream, Lombard, and other areas of Du Page County. Like most churches, Aldersgate emphasizes ministry and worship, but what distinguishes the church is the genuine caring of people for one another, and the warm welcome given to visitors. Ministry is not only spiritual -- small groups, Sunday worship, Sunday school, and Stephen's Ministries -- but also involves social outreach such as Parents Day Out, where preschool children are cared for so that mothers and fathers can have a break from child care. There is also a "Circle Ministry" where the homeless receive a warm meal and a bed for the night, and a tutoring program for children that are new to the American culture. Christmas Sharing expresses community love for the less fortunate, and when there is a crisis in the community, the region, the nation, or internationally, Aldersgate members are known for giving sacrificially. Unlike many churches, a majority of those who attend are involved in at least one area of ministry, and many take part in several ministries. Thus the church balances the vertical dimension of the love between believers and God, with the horizontal dimension of caring for those who need help. Stop by and see for yourself that when churches are compared, Aldersgate is one of the best!
